The Clerks Win Major Arts Council Grant

Arts Council Lottery Funded

We are proud and delighted to announce the award of a major grant from the Arts Council for an 18 month programme of concerts, workshops and educational projects.

Focussed around The Clerks' new residency at the St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, the project - called 'Raising Voices' - entails three artistic programmes, 'Qudduson', 'The Clerks Songbook', to be launched this autumn, and 'The Hours', a sound installation to be developed and premiered next year.

Around each programme are scheduled a series of schools visits and workshops for adults and children, making 'Raising Voices' a truly collaborative venture.

"This is a wonderful new adventure for The Clerks," says director, Edward Wickham. "We have been preparing this integrated programme for almost a year now, and it comes on the back of a series of projects - the 'Roman de Fauvel', 'Play of Daniel 'and 'In Memoria' - which have been sending us in new directions. It is really gratifying that the Arts Council have recognised the value of this work, and we are much looking forward to the next couple of years."
