Friends Scheme

The Friends scheme has been running for almost ten years and has become an important part of the life of The Clerks.

The scheme has enabled us to create close links with our audiences, test out new ideas and repertoires at our annual Friends concerts and commission new work.

In recent years, Friends concerts and workshops have provided a first platform for some significant projects including

  • The Play of Daniel – a 'music theatre' production which toured UK schools and festivals
  • Roman de Fauvel – a multi-media piece which had its first public outing at the South Bank, and has recently been presented in New York and Philadelphia
  • New works by Christopher Fox and Robin Holloway

These projects would simply not have been possible without the help of individual donors, and we are most grateful to those who have felt able to give through the Friends scheme.

With the start of an exciting new phase in the career of The Clerks, the time has come to review the scheme so that it continues to enable close interaction between the group and our audiences, while also providing the kind of financial support that The Clerks need to develop their artistic plans.

Join

The Clerks' Friends scheme now has three levels of participation. They are:

Friends
For £50 a year, Friends will be invited to:

  • A special concert with reduced ticket prices and a free reception.

Unlike the previous system, we will be able to receive Gift Aid on all subscriptions from those who are UK taxpayers, further increasing the benefit to The Clerks.

Patrons
Donations of £200 or more a year entitle Patrons to receive all of the above plus:

  • A free copy of new releases signed by the artists
  • Invitations to project and CD launches
  • An acknowledgement on The Clerks’ website and in their concert programmes.

Benefactors
Donations of £1,000 or more a year entitle Benefactors to receive all of the above plus:

  • An invitation to a post-concert dinner with the Music Director and artists
  • Invitations to recording sessions
  • Invitations to rehearsals
